Last year’s Hempowered Individual Award 2023 was presented to Deven Khanna, an advocate at the HP High Court and a member of the HP Hemp Legalisation Committee. Deven played a pivotal role in helping the Himachal Pradesh Government understand the legal distinctions between hemp and cannabis. His tireless efforts were instrumental in creating the legal groundwork that allowed the state to embrace hemp cultivation and innovation.
The Hempowered Organization Award for 2023 was awarded to Ayurinstinct Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. for their pioneering role in the hemp industry, especially for organizing the first-ever India Hemp Expo. Introduction:
We are pleased to announce that the HEMPOWERED ORGANISATION AWARD is conferred upon HempStreet, India’s pioneering research-to-retail venture in Ayurvedic cannabis solutions. This accolade recognises HempStreet’s groundbreaking work in developing and clinically validating cannabis-based treatments for menstrual pain, a condition affecting millions of women globally.
HempStreet's flagship product, Formulation Femme, is a non-psychoactive, Ayurvedic cannabis-based tablet designed specifically to alleviate menstrual cramps. This formulation combines traditional Ayurvedic ingredients with modern cannabis research to provide effective relief without the side effects commonly associated with conventional painkillers.
In collaboration with Amrita School of Ayurveda, HempStreet initiated a year-long, double-arm, randomised controlled trial involving 60 volunteers. The study aimed to assess the analgesic effects of cannabis-based medicines on Primary Dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). Preliminary findings indicated significant reductions in pain frequency and severity, as well as improved daily functioning among participants.
HempStreet's commitment to innovation and research has garnered international attention. A Phase 1 trial published in the Cannabis Health News highlighted the safety, efficacy, and acceptability of Formulation Femme in managing dysmenorrhea, laying a robust foundation for further research and development.
